Welcome!
I was strongly encouraged to jump into the 21st century today when I realized that I need to renegotiate how I apply for jobs and universities. I was listening to NPR and the guest on 'Talk of the Nation' was a human resources specialist from Southwest Airlines. Acting upon her advice, I find myself avoiding finishing my thesis--officially due in my advisor's hands in 5 days--by starting a blog.
After school adjourns May 14, 2009 and I am recovered from my graduation celebration (in an effort to practice a little mortification, I have sworn off the hooch until after graduation) I will spend some time building the site. I have some important things to say and I honestly believe my experiences as a non-traditional student will perhaps serve as inspiration for other single-moms (and dads, too) who are contemplating returning to school to begin or complete post-secondary education.
Then, when I get the pictures up and get the site looking as stylish as I can, I will write about law school. The past three years of my life have been my best ever and as much as I learned about math, science, Renaissance art (thanks, Dr. Cuneo!) and the Roman Empire (thanks, Dr. Futrell!), I have learned more about me.
Thanks for looking and reading. I look forward to hearing from you. Who knows? Perhaps one day, my name will be a household name like that guy who cries for Britney Spears and lambasted Miss California.
Best,
Danielle
